Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Kuat Transfer 3-Bike Platform Carrier on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5. So the Transfer is a solid bike carrier for your road bikes. Mountain bikes, it may come up a little bit short as far as that wheel base, but in general use is a good way to move three bikes, especially if you have something that's gonna have the carbon fiber or something with a nice frame or alternative style like a step through. In those cases, this guy's gonna work well, because it doesn't make any contact with the actual frame of the bike, you just have the front wheel hook that holds down the front of the bike and you have the rear cradle strap that holds your rear wheel in place. Another unique thing about the Transfer is the fact that the arms actually fold up out of your way and you have this U-shape on the base to make it easier for loading and unloading your bikes, which is unique to platform racks. Generally, you're gonna have to maneuver your bike over a mast or, you know, struggle it onto the carrier itself. more

Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're gonna take a look at the NV 2.0 base on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5 The NV 2.0 is a wheel mounted carrier, so you're gonna have two points of contact. You're gonna have the hook mount, and the wheel strap on the rear. It works for any bike, but it's specifically people that are going to want no contact to their frame. So if you have a fancier paint job, a carbon fiber bike, a step through bike, something unconventional, a wheel mount is gonna work. And this type of carrier basically future-proofs you against any bike you may encounter. Your weight capacity will be 60 pounds per bike. more

Yakima StageTwo 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going, neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Yakima StageTwo on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5. What makes the StageTwo a really cool bike carrier is a lot of the specs that it has. It will support your heavier bikes as far as your e-bikes rated up to 70 pounds per bike. It'll go up to 52 inches as far as your wheel base. And as far as your tire size, it can go between 16 inches all the way up to 29 inches. So it's a pretty wide variety of styles of bikes that this will accommodate. more

Hollywood Racks Destination E Bike Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination E-Bike Carrier on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5. The Destination lands at a point where you getting a lot of really solid features. As far as securing your bike to the carrier, you have this loop back here where you generally have a mast, that allows you to make adjustments for, basically, any style frame. Only thing I noticed is that with the way the arm reaches across, you're going to want to have to figure out what the best position is for your particular setup, but it does give you the flexibility to make that work, however you need. Your capacity is 70 pounds per bike. Your wheel base is 50 inches and you can support a wheel up to 29 inches, as small as 20. more

Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Platform Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Carrier on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5. The Destination is a very cost effective way to move four bikes, as you see on the back of your vehicle. It's gonna take up a lot of space, but a couple things to consider if you, before choosing this bike. As you see, it's a mast mounted bike carrier, so it's gonna make contact with your frame. So if you have a carbon fiber frame, fancy paint job and unconventional style, this carrier wouldn't be the best option for you. Overall it's still one of my top picks as far as moving four bikes in a more cost effective way. more

Saris MHS 2 Bike Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Saris MHS on our 2023 Audi Q5. The MHS is a wheel mounted bike carrier that secures your bike by clamping down on the front and rear tire using the pivoting locking arms. Essentially this is gonna work for the person that has a unconventional bike frame, something with a nice paint job or a carbon fiber bike as well. So because there's no contact being made to the frame at all, and the bike's still very secure by the wheels. Your capacity is 80 pounds per bike on the back of your carrier. Loaded, you can see that this guy will kind of block some of the back of the vehicle as far as your tail lights, your backup camera and your license plate, and a portion of your back window as well. more

Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE 2 Electric Bike Platform Rack Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video
How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Hollywood Rack Sport Rider SE on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5. The Sport Rider is a very capable carrier that can support up to 80 pounds per bike, and as far as your wheel base up to 60 inches of tire diameter up to 29 inches. In general, this is going to cover a lot of bases. It's super adjustable. It, one thing I would say is a negative though, is gonna be, there is a lot of points that you have to touch to make those adjustments. But after you have it set up to your particular bike, it makes it a lot easier. more

Yakima OnRamp E-Bike Platform Rack with Ramp Review - 2023 Audi Q5- Video

It's gonna make contact with your frame in the middle and on your front and rear wheel along with a cradle. This type of carrier is gonna be for a person that's carrying their e-bikes. Maybe you've already experienced lugging your e-bikes to get it up on top of a carrier or you're new to it altogether and you just wanna bypass that entirely. What this does for you, it offers you an included ramp so you don't have to lift your bike and one of the better deals on it, it's not an accessory you have to buy after the fact and you don't have to figure out where you're gonna stow it because it's all in one on the carrier itself. more

The MonoRail is a great bike carrier if you we're looking for something that didn't make contact with your frame. It is a wheel mount, so you have a front ratcheting hook and a rear strap and cradle that secure the bike to the carrier so you don't have anything making contact with the frame. So if you have a carbon fiber bike, a bike with a nice paint job, maybe an unconventional bike like a step through bike, this is gonna help contain your bike to the back of your vehicle. The MonoRail covers a lot of bases as far as compatibility with a lot of different size bikes. Your weight capacity goes up to 60 pounds, your wheel based up to 48, and you're also gonna be able to support your fat tires up to five inches. more

How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Rocky Mounts Guide Rail on the back of our 2023 Audi Q5. The Guide Rail is a wheel mounted bike carrier that makes contact with just the wheels. So if you have a bike frame that's a special paint job or a carbon fiber, or maybe even an unconventional style, like a step through, this is gonna work for that. It's just gonna make secure your bike without making any contact to any of the frame. As far as on the back of the Q5, as you see just with one bike, it is kind of blocking out a part of your taillights, a portion of your license plate, as well as your backup camera. If you had two bikes on there, you know it would, I would say it'd be even worse as far as obstructing your view, so you just wanna be aware of that on the back of your vehicle. more

That's ain't more so for your more serious cyclist. It's a great design that's a wheel mount that's actually gonna make contact with the front and rear tire instead of making contact with the frame itself. So if you have a bike made of carbon fiber or a bike that has a nice paint job or maybe even an unconventional step through frame, this is gonna work for all those situations. Generally speaking, with the Kuat products, they're usually gonna be super user friendly where it doesn't require a lot of contact points. more

Now the Kuat Sherpa is what I think of as the ideal middle of the road bike rack. It's nice, pricey as say, the Kuat NV but it still has the premium features that you would expect in a correct bike rack. Now, one of its features is that it can tilt away and to do so, you pull on this lever right over here and that allows this bike rack to drop down, to tilt. And you'll want to tilt it away if you want to add access your hatch. more

Kuat Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Audi Q5 NV22G- Video
Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer, and today we are looking at the Kuat NV 2.0 two-bike rack here on our 2018 Audi Q5. Now the Audi is a premium car, so I would see the Kuat NV as a great pair, since it is a premium bike rack. It has all of the wonderful features, the weight capacity, even the extra bike repair stand, great things that you would expect from a premium Kuat bike rack. So one of its features is that it can tilt away and to do so, you pull on this lever right over here. That allows it to drop down to a tilt, and you'll want to do this if you wanna access the hatch on your vehicle. So as you can see, with the door opening, there's plenty of space between our hatch and our bike allowing us to get in there, maybe grab our water, grab our bags, grab our helmets, without having to take our bike off, which means you can get onto the trail a lot quicker. more

Rob: Rob here at etrailer.com and today you're going to be taking a look at the RockyMounts Platform Style Two Bike Rack on our 2018 Audi Q5. One of the big advantages to a platform style bike rack is, it is going to be extremely secure, but we're not going to have any frame contact on our bike.You have a carbon bike like we have here, we're not going to have to worry about it damaging it or even any kind of scratches or abrasions on the paint. But another big advantage to a platform style rack is that we're going to be able to get into the access to our rear hatch, without having to remove our bikes.If we come to this lever right here in the middle, we actually pull on that lever, we can lower the bike down and that'll give us plenty of room to come over from the side. You could open up our rear hatch to get anything in or out that we may need. We've got plenty of room right here, even to grab some of those larger items. As soon as we're done, I'm gonna close up our hatch. more

Thule Hitching Post Pro Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Audi Q5- Video

Now the Hitching Post Pro is going to allow us to carry up to four bikes to and from the trail. It's going to alleviate the problem of having to cram your bikes in the back hatch, or take another vehicle so you can fit everything and all the people with you. It's also going to alleviate the problem of having to reach all the way on top of our vehicle to load and unload the bikes. This is going to be a lot easier, safe, secure way to get your bikes to and from the trail.Now since it's the hanging style, we're going to have three points of contact. We'll have two on the cross tube and one on the vertical support, and that's going to act as a anti-sway to prevent that bike-to-bike contact and swinging too much when we're driving down the road. more

Saris Freedom SuperClamp Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Audi Q5- Video
Today on our 2014 Audi Q5 we're going to be test fitting the Saris Freedom Superclamp 2-bike platform-style rack, part number SA4025. We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into our receiver hitch. You'll want to watch for the pinholes to line up. That way you can insert the threaded anti-rattle hitch pin bolt. Go ahead and get that as tight as you can by hand and then we'll finish it off with our wrench. Tightening this down helps to take any extra movement out of the shank of the rack, which overall eliminates movement of the bike going down the road. more

Yakima FullTilt Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Audi Q5- Video
Today on our 2014 Audi Q5 we are going to be test fitting the Yakima full tilt 4-bike rack four inch and a quarter and two inch hitches. Part number YO2462. We will begin our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into the receiver hitch on our vehicle. You will notice here that there is a self-locking pin, so we will go ahead and keep a finger on the anti-rattle device so that it does not bound up as we insert our shank and press this in until it clicks into place. As you can see we are locked into place and it is not going to move out of there. We will then tighten down the anti-rattle knob here. Sometimes it helps to wiggle the rack around a little bit as you tightening it down. And as you can we are nice and secure. With our rack in this position the closest part of the rack to the vehicle is going to likely be the base of the mast here. That is going to measure about three and a quarter inches and the arms are going to measure about five and a quarter inches from the rear of the vehicle. The pin is going to be our lowest point so that is going to be about 8 1/2 inches off the ground. more

Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2014 Audi Q5- Video
Today on our 2014 Audi Q5 we're going to be test fitting the Thule Helium Aero 2 Bike Rack part number TH9042. We'll begin our test fit by inserting the shank of the rack into the hitch of our vehicle. This does have a self-locking pin and clip system so you'll want to pull out on the arm here, twist that into place and it'll lock itself into place. You'll then tighten down the anti-rattle device. This helps to take any extra play out of the shank and overall will reduce movement of the bike on the rear of the vehicle. Get that tightened down real good and as you can see we're nice and tight there. We'll go ahead and get a couple of measurements. more
